Integrity Helpline
ETHICSPOINT INTEGRITY HELPLINE - 1.888.247.3172
There is nothing more important than the safety and security of our students, faculty, staff and all members – current, past and future – of the Pearson College community. With this in mind, the College has implemented policies and procedures to safeguard the well being of all members of the College. This includes the College’s policy on harassment, external financial audits and open forums unique to the College such as Village Meetings.
However, best practice in governance, school management and leadership also includes open communication options in cases where current policies or procedures fall short. To this end, Pearson College has contracted with EthicsPoint (www.EthicsPoint.com).
Ethics Point is used by many colleges and universities in North America and worldwide and provides a good faith anonymous method for anyone to report behavior of Pearson College employees or other individuals associated with the College that is illegal, unethical, a violation of safety regulations, fraudulent, an abuse of College property, a misuse of College funds, substance abuse or other conduct that violates Pearson College’s policies. EthicsPoint is contractually committed not to pursue a reporter’s identity. Reports to EthicsPoint are communicated, by EthicsPoint, to the Chair of the Personnel Committee of the Pearson College Board of Trustees. EthicsPoint explains the procedure and timeline to those who file reports and serves as an intermediary in communicating between the College trustee and the person filing a report.
EthicsPoint service is not meant to be a substitute for any existing methods at Pearson College that deal with the reporting of personal complaints of harassment. Nor is EthicsPoint designed to deal with faculty and staff employment related grievances, for which the College has specific policies and procedures. In normal circumstances, if an employee has a concern, he or she should first bring this to the attention of his or her immediate supervisor. If it is not resolved, it should then be brought to the College Director or the Director of Human Resources.
In the case of students, if a student has a concern, this should be brought by the student to the student’s teacher, activity leader, advisor or housefellow. If it is not resolved, it should be brought to the attention of the Dean of Students or the College Director.
If the concern involves the illegal or unethical behavior of the College Director or a member of the Board of Trustees, the concern should be brought to the Chair of the Board of Trustees or EthicsPoint should be used.
If it is a harassment claim, the procedures outlined in the harassment policy should be followed.
To contact EthicsPoint, call toll-free 1.888.247.3172. This number is a unique number assigned by EthicsPoint to Pearson College and can be called at any hour of the day or night every day of the year.
