GIFTS OF SECURITIES

This is a great way to liquidate highly appreciated publicly traded securities such as stock, mutual funds or bonds and make a charitable gift. By directly donating publicly traded securities to Pearson College, Canadian donors may eliminate capital gains tax on donated securities and support Pearson students at the same time. To assist you in making a gift of securities, please contact Grant Monck, Director of Development, 250.391.2413, gmonck@pearsoncollege.ca.

 ENDOWMENT GIFT

Any donation in support of Pearson College may be placed in pooled endowment funds held in trust by the Pearson College of the Pacific Foundation. A percentage of the endowment (currently 5% of the endowment balance) is used each year to fund the College’s operating expenses. Within the endowment, there are several named endowments and donors are invited to designate their endowment gift to one of these named endowments. An endowment may be named for a gift or pledge of $500,000. $650,000 funds a full student scholarship in perpetuity. For more information about our endowment, please contact Grant Monck, Director of Development, 250.391.2413, gmonck@pearsoncollege.ca.

MATCHING GIFTS

It’s easy to double or even triple your gift to Pearson College. Many companies allow their employees to influence their corporate charitable giving programs by matching the gifts made to charitable organizations by their employees. Simply determine if your employer has a matching gift program and then ask your company’s human resources, personnel or community relations office for a matching gift form. Fill out your portion of the form and send it along to the Pearson College Development and External Relations Department with your donation.

ESTATE PLANNING

Gift in a will – Bequest
This is a simple and easy way to support Pearson students in the future. A specific dollar amount or portion of your estate may be donated. A charitable tax receipt will be sent to your Executor for the gift.

Gifts of Canadian RRSP and RRIF Funds
This is a popular alternative to leaving a bequest gift to the College. RRSP and RRIF funds or a percentage thereof may now be easily designated to the College without having to pass through your estate or requiring a revision to your will. A charitable tax receipt is issued for the proceeds received.

A Gift of Life Insurance
This is an excellent gift for alumni and annual donors who wish to leave a substantial gift to the College through relatively modest premium payments. You receive a tax receipt for annual premium payments.

Charitable gifts of Annuities
This is a good choice for retired individuals in Canada who wish to increase their annual income. A charitable gift annuity provides guaranteed monthly income for the rest for your life, a charitable tax receipt to reduce personal income tax and a charitable donation to support Pearson students.

For more information about including Pearson College in your estate planning or any of the other ways of giving noted above, please contact Grant Monck, Director of Development, 250.391.2413, gmonck@pearsoncollege.ca.

DONATION OF REAL ESTATE

This is a good gift option for Canadians who wish to make a substantial gift to support Pearson students. You can transfer real estate to Pearson College today and receive a charitable tax receipt for its fair market value. You retain full use and enjoyment of your property during your lifetime after which the property will pass to the College. For more information on these gifts, please contact Grant Monck, Director of Development, 250.391.2413, gmonck@pearsoncollege.ca.
